Chorus Power Box - Icons Mural

I'm back again for another Chorus Cabinet Art Project for 2024!

This year the theme was "BOP 2124: Depicting Life in the Bay 100 Years from Now". My take on this tricky brief is a playful, colorful mix of futuristic adventure 🚀 and classic Bay of Plenty vibes.

From rockets and astronauts symbolizing exciting journeys ahead, to a cute robo-dog that gives a nod to our tech-filled future, this scene is full of fun details. And a few notions of flora, fauna, and the moana.

With public murals, I like to go bigger and brighter than my original paintings. And this cheerful color palette is designed to make anyone smile, it invites people of all ages to imagine what the future could look like.

MY ROLE - Mural concept and painting.

Creating the concept

I created the initial elements by hand drawing a bunch of fun icons, exploring the theme.

Once I was happy with the overall feel, I scanned the elements into Adobe Illustrator. I then played with shape and colour to get the right balance and scale.
