Merchandise Concepts for Tauranga Crossing

One of my favourite parts of collaborating with clients is thinking beyond the original brief.

After creating a body of work, including a series of murals and printed hoardings for Tauranga Crossing, the team mentioned they might be interested in exploring merchandise in the future. So I took the opportunity to mock up a few tote bag concepts using segments of the existing artwork from the project.

Featuring NZ native tūī and kōkako birds, and botanical illustrations developed throughout the Tauranga Crossing mural series, these concepts show how commissioned artwork can evolve into a cohesive collection of branded products. I love how the existing artwork can be used to create merchandise that extends the story of the brand.

I love presenting ideas like this to clients. It's a great way to show how artwork can have multiple uses and across so many different touchpoints... from tote bags and apparel to packaging, stationery and promotional products.
