This painting is inspired by those perfectly imperfect Saturday mornings. You decided some hectic baking with the kids was a good idea and there's a lemon loaf on the go, only to realise you’re completely out of baking powder. The solution? A quick knock on the neighbour’s door, a trade of a few teaspoons of the good stuff for a few life stories and suddenly your baking comes with a side of community. How beautiful is life.
This piece captures the feelings of simple home life, connection and everyday rituals that make life feel human. A playful nod to sharing and swapping and finding community in those unexpected moments.
Full of texture and layers, the brush strokes are so gooood! The colour palette has a great balance of warm sunshine yellow and rich terracotta and complimented by some dusty blue tones. I had some fun painting this one on canvas and using black for the first time on an original piece!
