Tauranga Special School Mural

This vibrant school mural was commissioned to celebrate Tauranga Special School’s 60th Jubilee and bring a sense of joy and connection to their outdoor space.

I painted this exterior mural just in time for their Jubilee celebrations! After dodging a whole lot of rain, it was such a buzz to get it finished and see it come to life on the wall.

The design is inspired by the school’s location, nestled between the Kaimai Ranges and the moana, where I used a graduated colour palette to reflect the shift in landscape, from earthy greens to ocean blues.

I also included some local nz native birds and plants: Pīwakawaka, Tui, Kākā, Kōwhai and Kauri leaves and a tuatara, all painted in my bold, organic style.

This school mural was all about creating a sense of connection and pride for the students and community with a bright artwork at the end of the cul-de-sac in central Tauranga. A place where everyone can feel grounded, included and inspired by the natural world around them

Thanks so much to Amy and the team at TSS for trusting me with this one 💛
