Max & Louie - Surface Pattern

You know that feeling when a client inquiry lands in your inbox and you just KNOW it's a match made in creative heaven? That’s exactly what happened with this project!

Natalie from the beauty brand Max & Louie reached out after spotting one of my Instagram posts showing an illustration in my sketchbook! Nat wanted me to create a stunning print for her packaging.

Nat is local to Pāpāmoa Beach, so I got to visit her studio and have a chat about the collab.

I spent time sketching different iterations of each product from various angles. The next step in my creative process was digitizing all those sketches in Adobe Illustrator, refining the linework and bringing the illustrations to life.

I also hand painted a pretty background using a process I use in my original paintings. The result? A hero surface pattern that is so dynamic that it works on different backgrounds and colourways. This gives Nat longevity and flexibility for any future variations. 

I also produced a collection of individual illustrations for use on her social media (you can see them here).
